Harry Maguire is keen to impress during pre-season to cement his Man United future after limited involvement in the 2022-23 campaign, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed the England international, 30, is happy at Old Trafford despite widely-reported interest from other Premier League sides.

Maguire wants to play first-team football but will attempt to force his way back into Erik ten Hag's plans with a strong pre-season showing rather than actively seek an exit.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the defender is wary of losing his England place ahead of the 2024 European Championships if he cannot play regular football next season.

Maguire could be pushed even further down the pecking order at Man United if they complete the signing of a new centre-back this summer.

He made 31 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign but started in just 16 of those outings.

The Sheffield-born star is out of contract at Old Trafford in June 2025 - and Man United have the option of a 12-month extension.

Maguire has racked up 175 total appearances for the club since joining for a reported £80million in 2019.

According to FBRef, the former Leicester ace earns a weekly wage of £190,000-a-week at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag has preferred Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and even natural left-back Luke Shaw to Maguire since taking charge last summer (2022).
