Sources: Man City make Ings approach amid intriguing Kane twist
Man City have registered their interest in signing Southampton star Danny Ings as he stalls on a new contract, Football Insider understands.
The Premier League leaders are in the market for at least one senior centre-forward this summer and are keen on Ings.
A City source has told Football Insider that the club have made an enquiry for the 28-year-old as they work through their list of striker targets.
It comes amid developments in the race among City, Man United and Chelsea to lure Harry Kane from Tottenham.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (9th July) that United are currently in pole position to sign Kane following recent talks.

City have submitted a bid for Kane but are looking at alternatives who could immediately slot into their side.
Ings is regarded by City manager Pep Guardiola as an expert penalty box operator capable of finishing off the many chances his side create.
Football Insider revealed their “concrete” interest in the Saints star on 31 March, although they face strong competition for his services.
The Premier League champions are in the market for a proven goalscorer following the exit of Sergio Aguero at the end of last season.
He has joined Barcelona on a free transfer and has left a major gap in the squad, even though Guardiola often selected sides without a recognised front man last season.
In other news, Man City man has quit after agreeing terms with West Ham.
