Edinson Cavani is willing to take a huge pay cut to join Boca Juniors from Man United this summer, Football Insider has learned.

The superstar striker, 34, has made up his mind to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the campaign.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Cavani is so eager to join Argentine giants Boca he will take a massive cut on his current deal, which is worth more than £200,000-a-week.

This site revealed last month that Cavani had reached an agreement in principle with Boca after talks with their vice-president Juan Roman Riquelme.

A deal is on the table and the player has indicated he will sign it, despite the drastic reduction in his pay.

His father Luis revealed to Argentinian broadcaster TYC Sports last month Cavani is unsettled at Old Trafford and "leaning towards" Boca with a "60 per cent" chance he will return to South America.

United do not want to lose the Uruguay international and Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken about trying to extend his deal.

The manager and his coaching staff have been hugely impressed by Cavani's attitude and winning mentality.

They believe he sets a great example on the training ground to the young players and are in no doubt he would be a major asset for another season.

The legendary striker joined United on a one-year deal last October and has made a big impact despite struggling for game time.

He has scored seven goals from 26 appearances in all competitions - including six Premier League strikes - but only 13 of those matches have been in the starting XI.

Injuries have restricted Cavani to just one run-out since mid-February but he is expected to play a big part in the final weeks of the campaign.
