Chinese club Beijing Renhe are set to table an improved bid for Rangers star Alfredo Morelos of £9million, Football Insider sources understand.
The cash-rich outfit had an £8million offer for the Colombian striker, 21, rejected at the end of last month by the Light Blues.
But a well-placed Rangers source has told Football Insider that Beijing Renhe are preparing to up their previous bid by £1million in a fresh attempt to persuade the Glasgow giants to cash in on their prize asset.
This comes as the Chinese club are also prepared to hand Morelos a jawdropping contract worth in the region of £38,000-a-week after tax.
With the transfer window open in China until February 28, Rangers face another test of their desire to hang on to the striker, who was signed from Finnish side HJK Helsinki last summer.
Morelos, who has scored 15 goals from 30 appearances this season, is among the the lowest earners in the Rangers side and, although the club have indicated they could open talks over a new deal, they would be unable to get near the figures on offer from Beijing Renhe.
The player’s agent has arrived in Glasgow for contract negotiations and they promise to be quite delicate given the lengths the Chinese club are prepared to go to sign him by the end of the month.
