Leeds United are keeping tabs on Irish striker Ali Reghba but Middlesbrough lead the race to sign him ahead of the January window, Football Insider sources understands.
Reghba has caught the eye playing for League of Ireland side Bohemians and he marked his debut for the club with two goals in September.
He is currently on a two-week trial at the Riverside as Middlesbrough’s coach staff have a look at the 18-year-old at close quarters ahead of a potential bid.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider sources that Leeds are continuing to monitor Reghba, but have yet to make any offer of taking the forward on trial, leaving Middlesbrough in pole position to sign the forward.
The 18-year-old has also caught the eye on international duty with the Republic of Ireland’s Under-19s and his potential has brought him on the radar of several English clubs.
If Reghba impresses during his stint on Teesside he could be offered a deal by Middlesbrough with Bohemians unlikely to stand in his way of moving up the football ladder.
However, they could face competition from Championship rivals Leeds for Reghba’s signature with the Whites keen to improve their youth ranks.
In other Leeds United news, it can be revealed the Yorkshire giants have lined up a stunning January triple signing swoop.
