Rangers are set to add the signing of Joe Aribo to that of George Edmundson as they finalise two new arrivals from England, Football Insider understands.
Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Charlton Athletic midfielder Aribo has agreed personal terms with the club after accepting their bumper contract offer.
Rangers are set to fend off last-ditch attempts from the Londoners to keep the 22-year-old as well as an eleventh-hour Celtic hijack to take advantage of cross-border rules to snap him up on a cut-price compensation deal this summer.
Aribo is set to join Oldham Athletic centre-back George Edmundson in signing for the Scottish giants by the end of this week.
Rangers have agreed a fee of £700,000 plus add-ons for the defender after he rejected moves to Portsmouth and Peterborough United, and he is flying to Glasgow today ahead of undergoing a medical.
Both players could sign for Rangers in time to link up with the senior squad jetting out to Portugal for their pre-season training camp this weekend.
They will become Steven Gerrard’s sixth and seventh signings of what has already been a really busy window for the club that finished second n last season’s Scottish Premiership.
Rangers have already completed the loan signing of Sheyi Ojo and permanent captures of Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie, Steven Davis and Greg Stewart.
In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that Celtic have hijacked transfer just as Ibrox deal is close.
