Sources: Preston North End agree to sign Olosunde after Rotherham exit
Preston North End are set to sign Rotherham defender Matthew Olosunde, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
Rotherham have confirmed that the 23-year-old right-back will leave when his contract expires today after rejecting an extension.
A Preston source has told Football Insider that the club have agreed terms with Olosunde following a breakthrough in talks.
He has been linked with Sheffield Wednesday but North End are confident of finalising the free transfer imminently.
Frankie McAvoy’s side are in desperate need of a new right-back after selling Darnell Fisher to Middlesborough in January.
Liverpool loanee Sepp van den Berg, a natural centre-back, filled the void in McAvoy’s wing-back system last season.

The club confirmed earlier this month Van Den Berg has returned to Deepdale for the 2021-22 campaign.
However, McAvoy hinted to the Preston North End website he is likely to be used as a centre-back.
That would mean Olosunde is likely to operate in the right wing-back role with Joe Rafferty the only other senior right-back on the books.
Olosunde scored once and provided seven assists in 72 games in his two-year spell with Rotherham.
He moved to the Millers from Manchester United but his efforts were not enough to prevent the club from suffering relegation last term.
He is now set to become North End’s third summer signing after Liam Lindsay and Van Den Berg.
McAvoy is looking to build on a strong end to last season.
The Scot won five of his eight games in temporary charge after Alex Neils’s sacking before being given the job on a full-time basis this summer.
