Sources: QPR agree to sign Brighton star Taylor Richards

Queens Park Rangers have agreed a deal to sign Brighton midfielder Taylor Richards, sources have told Football Insider.

He is now undergoing a medical and putting the finishing touches on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Brighton are happy to let the 21-year-old go after he spent the second half of last season on loan at Birmingham City.

Football Insider revealed earlier this week (18 July) that both QPR and Blackburn Rovers had made enquiries to Brighton about Richards.

QPR have now stepped up their interest and are set to complete the deal and make him the fifth signing of the Michael Beale era.

The London club have already bolstered their attacking ranks with the signing of Tyler Roberts from Leeds United on a similar loan-to-buy deal.

Richards played six times in the Championship for Birmingham, including two starts, after suffering an injury when completing his medical in January.

The west London-born ace also spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan in League One with Doncaster Rovers where he scored 11 times and provided five assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

His performances with Doncaster earned him a new three-year contract at Brighton last summer (2021) and he also played twice in the Premier League in 2021-22.

Richards moved to Brighton from Man City in the summer of 2019 and looks set to end his Seagulls career with five senior appearances across all competitions, including three starts in the EFL Cup.

In other news, an EFL club have plotted a move to sign an available Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder.
