Ibrox Sources: Rangers have agreed considerable 6-figure starlet new deal

Rangers rate Leon King so highly they have handed him one of their best-ever contracts to a teenager, Football Insider can reveal.

The Glasgow giants were successful in seeing off interest in the 16-year-old from a legion of Premier League giants as they tied him to a new deal last week, as first revealed by this site.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that the club pushed the boat out to hand King what is said to be a considerable six-figure contract.

The club’s coaches regard King as a huge talent and they are convinced he can establish himself in the first team in the coming years.

The Rangers board sanctioned the deal after Steven Gerrard made clear how highly he rates the youngster.

The club have been desperate to avoid a repeat of the situation in which Billy Gilmour quit to join Chelsea two years ago.

The midfielder has made a stunning impact for the first team of the Premier League giants and chalked up consecutive man-of-the-match awards for displays against Liverpool and Everton.

King, who turned 16 in January, is rated just as highly as his fellow young Scot at the same age after displaying immense promises during his progress through the ranks.

The teenager and his family had knocked back Rangers’ first offer of a professional deal amid a stampede for his services from down south.

Football Insider revealed in December that Tottenham and Wolves joined Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as Bundesliga big guns RB Leipzig, in the race to sign King

In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have slashed the asking price of star man as overhaul gets underway.
