Sources: Rangers & Motherwell in deadline-day race to sign Robson

Rangers are waiting in the wings as Motherwell make a deadline-day move for Blackpool midfielder Ethan Robson, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The 24-year-old is a target for ‘Well as they look to strengthen their central midfield ahead of Monday’s 11pm cut-off.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Motherwell have made contact over signing Robson while his situation is also being monitored by Rangers.

The versatile midfielder has been a key member of the Tangerines’ squad since signing on a free transfer from Sunderland last summer.

He has made 13 league starts among 23 appearances in all competitions and has clocked up 1527 minutes of first-team action.

But Robson could now be on the move again after a stop-start career that has also included loan spells at Grimsby Town and Dundee.

He has a contract with Blackpool that runs until the summer of 2022, although there is an option for an extra year.

Rangers are expected to be busy on deadline day.

The Glasgow giants announced the capture of Simpson, 24, on a pre-contract agreement last week.

But the club are also in talks with the Cherries over a deal which see the move happen now, rather than in the summer.

This site revealed at 8am on Sunday (31st January) that Derby are in talks with the Light Blues over taking George Edmundson, 23, on loan and he was undergoing a medical on Monday morning.
