Reiss Nelson is keen to kickstart his career away from Arsenal despite the club's attempts to persuade him to stay, sources have told Football Insider.

Sources with knowledge of the situation have told Football Insider that Arsenal are now planning to come back to Nelson with an improved offer.

The winger is homegrown and versatile - characteristics which are valued highly by the north London giants.

But Nelson is aware it will be tough to break into the side ahead of superstar Bukayo Saka.

It is believed that Arsenal are planning to greatly improve their squad in the summer window - and wingers are on the agenda for Arteta and his recruitment team.

Nelson currently earns a reported wage of £15,000-a-week at the Emirates Stadium.

He has turned out 16 times across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign, notching three goals and three assists.

However, he is yet to start a Premier League game in the current season - with the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli ahead of him in Arteta's pecking order.

Nelson has already experienced a taste of regular first-team football away from Arsenal in recent seasons.

He notched four goals and seven assists in 33 appearances on loan at Feyenoord in the 2021-22 campaign – helping the Dutch giants reach the final of the Europa Conference League.

The 23-year-old spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Hoffenheim, notching seven goals and one assist in 28 games across all competitions.
