Sources: Rochdale reject six-figure Shrewsbury Town bid for Morley

Rochdale have rejected a £150,000 bid from Shrewsbury Town for Aaron Morley, Football Insider can reveal.

The League One outfit have made a move for the highly-rated midfielder in the final week of the window.

An industry source has told Football Insider the League Two side have knocked back Shrewsbury’s bid for the 21-year-old.

Morley has just one year left to run on his contract at Spotland and Shrewsbury will be hoping to take advantage of his situation.

They may be in the market for midfield reinforcements before the window shuts on 31 August.

Football Insider broke the news yesterday (24 August) Blackpool have submitted a £300,000 bid for Josh Vela.

The 27-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Shrewsbury and is yet to commit to a new deal.

Morley made his 100th appearance for Rochdale last night as they beat Shrewsbury 2-0 in the Carabao Cup.

He is yet to miss a minute of league action this term after enjoying a breakout campaign last year.

The Bury-born ace played 50 times across all competitions last season as the Dale were relegated to League Two.

Rochdale have enjoyed a difficult start to the campaign and picked up their first league win of the season last weekend.

Morley grabbed an assist in the 3-1 win over Northampton, his 12th for Rochdale.

He also has found the net eight times across all competitions for the northwest outfit.

In other news, Portsmouth, Wigan Athletic and Hearts are racing to sign a Bristol City player.
