Sources: Shrewsbury Town plotting to sign Preston North End midfielder Tom Bayliss
Shrewsbury Town have set their sights on signing Preston North End midfielder Tom Bayliss this summer, Football Insider understands.
The 23-year-old is on the transfer list at Deepdale after struggling to make an impact since his arrival in 2019.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Shrewsbury are plotting a move for Bayliss after being alerted to his availability.
Shrewsbury boss Steve Cotterill is a big fan of the midfielder and sees him as a key addition to his side ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
Bayliss has just over 12 months remaining on his contract with Preston.
He moved to Deepdale from Coventry City in August 2019 for a fee close to £2million.

However, the centre-midfielder struggled to break into the Preston side under former boss Alex Neil.
He was subsequently loaned out to Wigan Athletic for the 2021-22 season.
Bayliss made 16 appearances for the Latics across all competitions and provided one assist.
A product of Coventry’s academy, Bayliss was highly rated as a youngster and was capped by England twice at under-19 level.
He could become Shrewsbury’s second signing of the summer window following the arrival of Jordan Shipley for an undisclosed fee.
Cotterill is keen to make more additions to his squad before the window closes as he looks to significantly improve on last season’s 18th-place finish in League One.
Shrewsbury failed to win any of their last six league fixtures last term.
