Tottenham have been given a major boost in their bid to sign Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer, Football Insider understands.

Spurs are keeping close tabs on the 21-year-old right-back as they weigh up a bid for a player who is attracting attention from Europe's elite following an outstanding campaign.

A club source has told Football Insider that Palace want Wan-Bissaka to stay for another year but, crucially, will not block his path if they receive a bid around the £30million mark for their academy product.

Tottenham's scouts are monitoring the home-grown star closely following his astonishing progress since being fast-tracked into the Palace side in February of last year.

The Londoners are set for a major overhaul of their playing squad this summer and regard Wan-Bissaka as the type of rising star who can be a cornerstone of a new-look Spurs side over the coming years.

The north Londoners are weighing up a bid for a player who has accumulated impressive statistics during his 14 months of Premier League football.

Wan-Bissaka has phenomenal tackling and one-on-one statistics this season, with the best record in the Premier League against opponents trying to dribble past him.

"You just don’t get past him," former Palace striker Ian Wright recently told Match of the Day, as cited by Football London. "He stays on his feet, keeps his eyes on the ball and makes sure he gets that ball out of play. He’s very dangerous with that."
