Sources: Sunderland set sights on Blackburn Rovers star Bradley Dack

Sunderland are keen on signing Blackburn Rovers star Bradley Dack this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at Ewood Park in June, but the Lancashire club have the option to extend his deal a further 12 months.

It is believed that Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray is a “huge fan” of the playmaker following their time together at Blackburn.

Dack managed 50 goals and 26 assists in 140 appearances under Mowbray before he departed Blackburn at the end of the 2021-22 season.

The London-born midfielder has continued his good form since then, notching seven goals and three assists in 30 Rovers appearances this season.

He is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury which has forced him to miss five Championship games.

Dack has a history of serious injuries – having missed almost 600 days of action through two separate cruciate ligament ruptures in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaigns.

The former Charlton youngster has claimed he models his style of play on Chelsea and England legend Frank Lampard.

As well as his primary attacking midfield role, Dack can play on both flanks and lead the line.

Blackburn sit fifth in the Championship with nine games of the season left to play.

Talisman Ben Brereton Diaz is in a similar situation to Dack, with the in-demand striker set to walk away from Ewood Park for free this summer.

Meanwhile, Sunderland sit 12th in the second tier but still have an outside chance of making the playoffs this season.
