Sources: Thorpe passes Hoffenheim medical after quitting Tottenham
Elliot Thorpe has passed a medical at Bundesliga side Hoffenheim after quitting Tottenham, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The midfielder, 20, left Spurs when his contract expired at the end of last month.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Hoffenheim have won the race to sign Thorpe after tracking him closely over the last 12 months.
He has yet to agree personal terms with the German club but the parties involved expect them to be finalised.
The box-to-box midfielder was well regarded at Tottenham and looked close to a first-team breakthrough under old manager Jose Mourinho.
But he rejected a new contract from the London giants, as revealed by Football Insider on 28th May, in order to join a club where there is a clear first-team pathway.

It is a major coup for Hoffenheim, who have fended off rival interest from Leicester City and Brentford in Thorpe.
The rising star was called up by Wales Under-21s last month after making a big impression for the Spurs Under-23s, most notably scoring two goals in a game against Liverpool a few months back.
He spent two seasons with the Tottenham Under-18s, where he made 13 appearances, before graduating to the Under-23s.
Thorpe’s talent is well known to former interim Spurs manager Ryan Mason, who had been coaching the youth team before his promotion after Mourinho’s exit.
His departure is the latest in a long line of British talent heading to the Bundesliga to fast-track their careers.
