Tottenham are confident of signing Bordeaux Malcolm’s before the January cut-off in a stunning double deal after progressive weekend talks, Football Insider sources understand.
Tottenham are keen to tie up a deal for the highly-rated Brazilian during this month’s transfer window to prevent a bidding war for his services in the summer with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United credited with an interest in the winger.
A well-placed Football Insider source has been told Tottenham have held talks with Malcolm and his representatives in recent days and they are prepared to sign him now in what would be a double deal in which he was then loaned back to Bordeaux for the remainder of the season.
Bordeaux are reluctant to lose Malcolm this month due to their precarious league position, but with Spurs willing to let him return to Bordeaux for the rest of the campaign they are ready to sanction a deal for the 20-year-old.
Malcom is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in European football after impressing at Bordeaux since his arrival from Corinthians last January.
The skilful attacker, who came through Corinthians’ youth ranks and has two caps for Brazil’s U23 team, has scored seven goals in 22 appearances for Bordeaux so far this season.
Tottenham see Malcolm as one of the future with Mauricio Pochettino a big admirer of his fellow South American as he feels he can be a valuable addition to his plans at the club.
The source told Football Insider that the manager has been the driving force behind the deal.
In other Tottenham transfer news, it has been confirmed that the club have agreed the terms of a deal with a second dazzling attacker.
