Sources: Tottenham handed big triple boost for Newcastle clash after surprise twist

Tottenham have been handed a huge boost ahead of their Premier League clash today by the inclusion of three of their south American stars in the travelling party to Newcastle United, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

Nuno Espirito Santo revealed at his media conference on Friday he would make a late decision on the selection of Argentinian pair Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso, Colombia’s Davinson Sanchez and Brazil international Emerson Royal.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Romero, Lo Celso and Emerson flew up to Newcastle with the rest of the squad yesterday evening.

That puts them in contention to play for the Londoners in the 4.30pm kick-off at St James’ Park.

It remains to be seen if the trio will make the starting XI for the first match of the Saudi era at Newcastle in what is expected to be a feverish atmosphere.

But the inclusion of key trio Romero, Lo Celso and Emerson following their participation in World Cup qualifiers just a few days ago is a huge boost for Spurs.

They had been expected to miss out due to the travelling involved and the fact those matches took place in the early hours of Friday morning UK time.

Romero and Emerson both started the 2-1 win over Aston Villa before the international break and delivered impressed performances.

Lo Celso was a second-half sub in that match in what was his eighth appearance of the season for Spurs.

Nuno admitted in his media conference that Spurs “have problems” following the international break as they look to build on their victory over Villa a fortnight ago.

Emerson and Sanchez are available as part of the new quarantine guidelines that allow Premier League players to train and play despite returning from red-list countries.

They were flown back to London on a private jet and were staying in a quarantine hotel at Tottenham’s training ground.

Argentina was removed from the UK’s red list earlier this month.

In other news, Tottenham have tabled Krasniqi offer as they look to fend off Bundesliga giants.
