Sources: Tottenham line up Ronnie Edwards offer in bid to beat Premier League rivals
Tottenham are stepping up their interest in Peterborough United defender Ronnie Edwards, Football Insider understands.
The England under-19 defender is regarded as one of the best young talents in the country, with a host of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on him.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Tottenham have been making regular checks on Edwards, 19, in recent weeks as they line up a move.
Peterborough are braced for bids from Spurs and other clubs going into the summer window.
Edwards has made 32 appearances in all competitions for the Posh this term after his initial breakthrough last season.
The defender signed for Peterborough from Barnet in August 2020 following a successful trial period at the then-League One side.

The youngster made just two senior appearances for the Bees.
The Harlow-born starlet came through the ranks at the north London club, joining the academy at the age of nine.
Edwards made his debut for England’s under-19 side in October 2021.
He has gone on to make six starts for Ian Foster’s side.
The 19-year-old is under contract at London Road until June 2025 after signing a fresh extension in May 2021.
As quoted by the Peterborough Telegraph (September 2021), director of football Barry Fry insisted Edwards could be worth “£10-20million” with a couple of seasons of Championship football under his belt.
He claimed the youngster is “a certainty to have an outstanding career in the game”.
Grant McCann’s Peterborough side have been cut 10 points adrift of safety and sit rock bottom of the Championship.
Tottenham sit fourth in the Premier League and are locked in a battle for Champions League football with Arsenal.
