Tottenham could make a shock bid for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku if Harry Kane leaves this summer, according to Paul Robinson.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Chelsea striker, 28, would be a "great fit" for Spurs but admitted the deal would be "difficult to do."

Harry Kane's future in north London is uncertain heading into the summer transfer window.

Tottenham

According to The Athletic‘s Laurie Whitwell (28 March), Man United want the England captain, regardless of who their manager is next season.

Lukaku enjoyed great success under now Spurs manager Antonio Conte while together at Inter Milan.

When asked by Football Insider's Dylan Childs if a reunion was out of the question, Robinson said: "If Kane was to go they should consider it.

"The main aim should be to keep Kane at the club though. He's playing so well at the moment. He is vital.

"I am not confident that he will stay. I don't think his ambitions have changed. He wants major honours. Yes, he is enjoying his football and his relationship with Conte is great I just cannot see him wanting to stay.

"It is going to take two or three transfer windows for Spurs to get to a stage where they are challenging. When you look at Kane's age, time is ticking.

Tottenham

"If he was in that Man City team he'd have 30 goals this season with the chance to win the Premier League and Champions League.

"If he leaves, Lukaku would be a great fit. It would be hard to do though as Spurs and Chelsea don't do business. It would be a difficult deal to do."
