KAA Gent star Gift Orban has been identified as a major target for Tottenham following Harry Kane's exit, sources have told Football Insider.

Orban has "blown away" Tottenham scouts, sources say, after a stunning first eight months at Belgian Pro League outfit Gent.

The 21-year-old only joined from Norweigan side Stabaek in January, but managed 20 goals and two assists in 22 appearances in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign.

This season, Orban has already notched five goals in four appearances for Gent - including four goals in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.

The Nigerian striker is out of contract in June 2027.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Spurs transfer chiefs are excited by his "huge potential" and feel the youngster can contribute to replacing Kane's goals - in this season and beyond.

Kane joined Bayern Munich on Saturday (12 August) for a reported £86million initial fee, which could rise to £100million after add-ons.

The England captain managed 30 goals in the Premier League last term - his joint-best return in the top-flight.

Nevertheless, Tottenham will be without European football this season after recording an eighth-place finish in the 2022-23 campaign.

Richarlison led the line in Kane's absence on Saturday (12 August) but managed just two shots as Spurs were held 2-2 away at Brentford.
