Sources: Walsall in talks to sign Man United defender Devine
Walsall are in talks to sign Man United defender Reece Devine on loan, Football Insider understands.
The 20-year-old spent the first half of this season on loan at Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone before being recalled earlier this month.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that United are looking to loan out the left-back before the close of the transfer window.
Walsall are keen to take the defender for the second half of the season and discussions are underway.
Devine made 10 appearances across all competitions while out on loan at St. Johnstone, including three games in Europe.
He made his European debut in Europa League qualifying as Callum Davidson’s side held Galatasaray to a famous 1-1 draw out in Turkey.
In the Scottish Premiership, he managed just four starts despite the Saints’ poor form.
Since his return to Old Trafford, the Stourbridge-born ace has not featured for the club’s Under-23s side.
Devine spent time at United’s fierce rivals Man City before making the switch across the City as a 16-year-old in August 2018.
He began his youth career at Wolves before moving to the Etihad.
As per the Express & Star, Walsall boss Matt Taylor revealed in November he wanted to sign a full-back when the transfer window opened.
They have already bolstered their defensive ranks with the arrival of centre-back Donervon Daniels yesterday (25 January).
Walsall currently sit 17th in League Two, 10 points above the relegation zone.
In other news, Man United have been told to sell a sometimes ‘incredible’ player who cost £30m in 2016.
