Watford new boy Juraj Kucka faces up to three months out injured in a devastating blow, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The 34-year-old only joined the Hornets a fortnight ago as they beefed up their midfield ahead of the new season.

But a Watford source has told Football Insider that Kucka’s leg injury sustained in Saturday’s opening-day win over Aston Villa will sideline him for two to three months out.

That means he could be out injured until late November.

Kucka started the 3-2 victory over Villa but was forced off after 69 minutes and was replaced by Dan Gosling.

He put in a solid display on his Premier League debut and won the most duels (11) in the match, according to sofascore.

The Slovakia international signed a two-year deal with the Premier League new boys after moving for a reported £2million fee from Parma.

Watford were in the market for midfield reinforcements amid a contract standoff with Will Hughes.

The 26-year-old played a key role in winning promotion from the Championship last season but has just 12 months left on his current contract.

He is currently training with the Under-23s after failing to agree an extension with the club.

Kukoc has vast experience in Serie A and was brought in as cover.

He has enjoyed spells with Sparta Prague, Genoa, AC Milan and Trabzonspor earlier in his career.

The 86-time international also played three games for Slovakia at this summer's European Championship.
