Former Watford striker Andre Gray is set to join Greek side Aris Thessaloniki FC on a free transfer, Football Insider understands.

Gray is available on a free transfer this summer after being released by Watford when his contract expired.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider a number of clubs were interested in the 30-year-old but he has opted to make the move to Greece and join Aris who will be playing in the Europa Conference League next season.

He spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Queens Park Rangers and scored 10 goals in 28 appearances during his stint at Loftus Road.

The Jamaica international spent five years at Watford where he scored 21 times and provided eight assists in 125 games across all competitions.

The Hornets may lose a number of forwards this summer following their relegation from the Premier League in 2021-22.

They are braced for offers for star duo Emmanuel Denis and Ismaila Sarr who impressed in the top-flight.

New manager Rob Edwards has not added new faces to the squad as they prepare for life in the Championship.

Football Insider reported earlier this month (17 June) that they were plotting a move for Stoke City forward Benik Afobe.

He has since rejoined Millwall where he spent the 2021-22 season on loan.
