Sources: West Ham plot move to sign 2-times PL winner who can play in midfield & defence

West Ham are plotting a move to sign Manchester City star Fabian Delph this summer, Football Insider understands.

The London club have set their sights on the England international as he is not playing regularly and is out of contract at Etihad Stadium next year.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider that manager Manuel Pellegrini is a big admirer of Delph, who he signed in the summer of 2015 when he was the City boss.

The Chilean is attracted by the fact the 29-year-old is proven in the Premier League, offers class and composure in central midfield and can also slot in to left-back.

Delph has made 20 appearances for treble winners City this season and 89 in total for the club he joined from Aston Villa four years ago.

He was a member of the England squad that reached last summer’s World Cup semi-finals and has won two league titles as well as the the FA Cup and three League Cups.

Delph is out of contract at City this summer and is expected to be allowed to leave if the club’s valuation is met.

In other West Ham news, a midfielder from the club has agreed to join a London rival after being given his marching orders by the Hammers hierarchy.
