Sources: West Ham set sights on signing player Rangers expect to quit Ibrox

West Ham have reignited their interest in Rangers star man Alfredo Morelos, Football Insider understands.

The Londoners are ready to battle Everton and leading European clubs for the signature of the 24-year-old striker this summer.

A Hammers source has told Football Insider the club are in the market for a new centre-forward this summer as the likelihood grows they will remain in the Premier League.

Morelos is among their targets following three prolific seasons in Glasgow that have placed him on the radar of plenty of elite clubs.

Manager David Moyes wants an orthodox forward to complement current first choice spearhead Michail Antonio and record signing Sebastien Haller.

Light Blues sources have told Football Insider the club hierarchy recognise they face an uphill battle to keep hold of Morelos this summer.

He is keen to play in a major European league and is set to quit Ibrox if his asking price is met.

That was around the £20million mark earlier this year but it has dropped to around £12m following the pandemic.

Morelos has an outstanding scoring record at Rangers of 77 goals from 137 appearances and was electrifying in the first half of 2019-20 before his form nosedived after the winter break.

Morelos has three years remaining on his Ibrox contract.

In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED the club are in talks to sign a prolific centre-forward but so are a Premier League team.
