Sources: West Ham tell Coventry he is free to leave this week after Peterborough swoop
West Ham have told midfielder Conor Coventry he is free to leave this week, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
This site broke the news on Saturday (31 July) that Peterborough have made a move to sign the 21-year-old.
Now an Irons source has told Football Insider that manager David Moyes is willing to loan out Coventry ahead of the new Championship season starting this weekend.
Second-tier new boys Posh face competition for Coventry’s services from at least two other clubs in the division.
The midfielder and fans favourite has delivered some outstanding displays in pre-season and his departure would leave many supporters disappointed.
It is understood these displays had Moyes pondering whether to keep the young midfielder around the first-team squad heading into the new campaign.

He also has seven games of League One experience under his belt after a loan spell with Lincoln in 2020.
Last season he made 18 appearances in the Premier League 2 and despite being mainly deployed as a defensive midfielder he scored five goals.
Coventry was also regularly named on the bench for Premier League games in the final weeks of the season.
