Middlesbrough are ready to listen to offers for striker Uche Ikpeazu in January, Football Insider has learned.

New manager Chris Wilder is planning to recruit a new centre-forward when the winter window opens.

A Boro source has told Football Insider that Wilder has given the green light for Ikpeazu to leave in the New Year.

The 26-year-old has been out of favour in recent weeks and Boro will allow him to move on if they secure a replacement.

The former Hearts man has failed to make the starting XI in Boro's last four games.

He made a three-minute cameo off the bench as Wilder took charge of his first Middlesborough match on Saturday - a 1-1 home draw against Millwall.

Fellow forwards Duncan Watmore and Andraz Sporar were preferred to the Harrow-born striker.

Ikpeazu impressed for former club Wycombe in the Championship last term.

He scored six goals for the Chairboys as they were relegated to the third tier.

Ex-Boro boss Neil Warnock signed the the 6ft 3in hitman during the summer window for a reported £750,000 fee.

Warnock departed the Riverside Stadium earlier this month with Boro 14th in the table.

Ikpeazu hit the ground running with two goals and an assist in his first three Championship games for Middlesbrough.

However, he has failed to find the net since.

Ikpeazu's most prolific spell was for Cambridge United during the 2017-18 season where he scored 14 goals in 44 games across all competitions.

The striker received his maiden call-up for Uganda last year but the matches were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ikpeazu's contract at the Riverside expires in June 2024.
