Sources: Williams undergoing Norwich medical today and set to sign from Man United tonight

Brandon Williams is undergoing a Norwich City medical today as he completes a move from Man United, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

This site revealed earlier today (August 20th) that the Canaries have fended off Southampton and Newcastle United to agree a loan deal for the left-back.

Now a United source has told Football Insider that Williams has been given the green light to complete a move to Norwich in the next 24 hours.

He has headed to the east Anglia outfit to complete medical tests and finalise a season-long loan that is expected to be signed tonight.

Man United have given the 20-year-old the green light to leave with Alex Telles returning from injury.

The Brazilian has missed the start of the season with an ankle injury.

United are keen for Williams to play regular first-team football after breaking through the youth ranks in Salford.

He already has 50 senior appearances under his belt at Old Trafford.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also has Telles and Luke Shaw to call upon at left-back.

Williams’ availability drew attention from across the Premier League.

Southampton were keen after allowing Ryan Bertrand to leave on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, Newcastle boss Steve Bruce wanted Williams to battle with the likes of Matt Ritchie and Jamal Lewis at left-back.

However, Norwich have won the race as Daniel Farke looks to keep the Canaries in the top flight this term.

Dimitris Giannoulis, 25, started at left-back for the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on the opening day.

The Greece international is also a new arrival at Carrow Road, having joined from PAOK.

In other news, a northern club have opened talks to sign another Manchester United sensation.
