Sources: Willock agrees six-year Newcastle United contract after breakthrough

Joe Willock is headed to Newcastle United after agreeing a six-year contract, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The goalscoring midfielder’s move from Arsenal has been held up this week over personal terms.

But a Newcastle source has told Football Insider that a full agreement has been reached with Willock after they settled a six-year deal.

It means the player who spearheaded the club’s relegation escape last season will now head to Tyneside and put the finishing touches to the move.

Newcastle have already had a bid of £25million including add-ons accepted by Newcastle.

A source with knowledge of Willock’s situation told this site that an agreement was expected to be announced imminently.

On 10th August the player added an image of himself to his Instagram story with the phrase “new limits”, sparking speculation that his arrival was imminent.

Willock, 21, spent the second half of last season on loan at St James’ Park and found a new lease of life.

He scored eight goals in 14 games for the Magpies and this site revealed in April how Willock had expressed a desire to return to the North East.

Willock’s impressive performances in May won him the Premier League Player of the Month award.

The midfielder has only played 48 minutes for Arsenal during pre-season as his future hanged in the balance.

Newcastle will now look to get Willock registered before Friday’s 12pm deadline so he can play against West Ham on Saturday.
