Wolves are preparing to battle Aston Villa and other top clubs to sign Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham this summer, Football Insider has learned.

The England international's future at Stamford Bridge is in major doubt following the appointment of Tomas Tuchel as manager.

He has not featured in Chelsea's last seven Premier League matches and was left out of the squad for the midweek draw against Brighton despite being fully fit.

This has opened the door to Abraham's many suitors, both in the top flight and on the Continent.

A Wolves source has told Football Insider the club are planning to be in the race for the 23-year-old as they look to strengthen their attack.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be in the market for a new centre-forward this summer regardless of whether Raul Jimenez fully recovers from his fractured skull and is able to reach his pre-injury levels.

The manager is a big admirer of Abraham and sanctioned an £18million bid for him in January 2019 that was accepted by Chelsea.

However, the forward opted to remain on loan for the rest of the season at Villa, where he played a critical role in their Championship promotion campaign.

Wolves will need to sell before they can shell out for any major signings this summer.

The Chelsea academy product is the club's top scorer in all competitions with 12 goals this season.

That comes after he netted 18 times in 46 matches last term.
