Wolves and Premier League new boys Watford have joined the chase for West Brom loanee Mbaye Diagne, Football Insider understands.

The striker, 29, has caught the eye for Albion since joining on loan from Galatasaray during the January transfer window.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that it is not his three goals for West Brom his overall displays that have brought him to the attention of several Premier League clubs including Wolves.

Diagne is unlikely to make his loan deal permanent at West Brom after their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed on Sunday.

The nine-cap Senegal international's Galatasaray contract runs until 2023.

A powerful striker, Diagne has been prolific in the Turkish Super Lig, scoring 51 goals in 64 appearances for Galatasaray and Kasimpasa respectively.

The nomadic centre-forward has also spent time in Italy, France, Belgium, Saudia Arabia, Hungary and China.

He was one of five signings made by Allardyce in the mid-season window, shortly after his appointment at the Hawthorns.

Watford have enjoyed an excellent campaign in 2020-21, winning promotion at the first time of asking following their relegation the previous season.

But wide-forward Ismaila Sarr was their top scorer with 13 goals and they lacked a prolific out-and-out striker.

Wolves have endured a similar problem amid the long-term injury absence of talismanic striker Raul Jiminez.

Winger Pedro Neto is their top scorer in what has been a largely disappointing campaign.

Shortly after his arrival at the Hawthorns, Allardyce said of Diagne: “It’s clear to see he’s a goalscorer."

Both clubs will hope Diagne can add to his three-goal haul in the top-flight next season if he signs in the summer.
