Southampton are willing to listen to offers for defender Jannik Vestergaard this summer, Football Insider understands.

The Premier League outfit are to consider offloading the 6ft 6in Denmark international after he lost his regular starting spot in recent months.

A Southampton source has told Football Insider that the club are looking for around £20million for Vestergaard as they look to recoup all of the fee paid to sign him in the summer of 2018.

Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is in the market for defensive reinforcements after being left frustrated by how many goals his side have conceded this season.

As revealed by Football Insider last week, the Premier League club have a strong interest in left-sided Millwall centre-back Jake Cooper.

The regular centre-back pairing at Southampton in recent months has been Jan Bednarek and Jack Stephens.

Vestergaard has fallen out of favour with Hasenhuttl and started only two Premier League matches since November.

The Dane is in his second season at St Mary’s after signing for £18million from Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Vestergaard, 27, still has the best stats of any Saints defender despite his exile from the first team and he played in 11 of their 12 Premier League games before Hasenhuttl axed him.

Southampton have conceded 52 goals from their 29 Premier League matches this season.

Only Aston Villa – who have let in 56 – have a worst record in terms of goals let in than Hasenhuttl’s side.

In other Southampton news, it can be REVEALED that the club are planning talks to sign £15million-valued ace from Premier League giants.
