Southampton ‘will be forced to accept Tyler Dibling bid’ – Insider
Southampton will be forced to sell Tyler Dibling if they are relegated from the Premier League come next summer’s transfer window.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the interest in his signature would be too much to ignore.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (18 December) that Man United and Newcastle are both plotting moves to sign the 18-year-old.
Brown explained that relegation from the Premier League forces clubs to cut their costs, and if his agent is demanding more money and higher, they may have to sell “for the good of the club”.
Meanwhile, it was said that a significant offer from a top club could also help Southampton financially and would benefit them beyond their on-pitch performance.
Similar has been seen in recent years with the likes of Leeds United, who were forced to let a number of kye players leave following their relegation in 2023.
Now, Brown insists Southampton could find themselves in the same situation, and Dibling is likely to be one of the players on the chopping block.
Interest in the winger has peaked following his impressive performances during an underwhelming season so far at St Mary’s, and that interest will be followed up should they go down.
Tyler Dibling to leave Southampton amid Man United interest
Recently-dismissed Saints boss Russell Martin was dismissive about rumours linking the winger with a £20million move away from St Mary’s as he shared: “I’m not sure you’ll get his left foot for that.“
However, he admitted talks over a new contract have delayed due to the agent’s interference.
Now, Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely with managers and players at the top level after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted it may be impossible to keep hold of him if they go down.
“It’s alright Russell Martin saying things like that, but I know what it’s like,” he told Football Insider.
“When you go down, and let’s assume for the sake of this argument that they do, you have to cut a lot of costs and sometimes that means losing your best players.
“Because you can’t pay them the wages they’ll be demanding, and the money that will potentially be on offer can benefit the club in other ways.
“You lose a lot of money when you’re relegated and often need to find ways to bring more in.
“When you’ve got a young player with a high value, there are always going to be interested clubs like Man United or Newcastle who think ‘Yep, we’ll take him.’
“You end up in the process of trying to cut costs while the player’s agent is trying to make more money.
“The outcome of that is, for the good of the club, they have to let him go.

“So whether they want to sell him or not, it may be out of their hands, they may be forced to sell.
“I think that will be the scenario if Southampton go down.“
In other news, Southampton are planning to appoint a similar boss to Russell Martin.
