Exclusive: Southampton in contact with two clubs over Samuel Edozie transfer
Southampton are facing a battle to keep hold of winger Samuel Edozie in the final month of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The wideman has been subject to enquiries from Bundesliga side Paderborn and Danish giants Copenhagen in recent days.
It is understood that the 23-year-old is also on the radar of several other Championship clubs, but they are yet to make contact with the Saints over a deal.
Edozie is out of contract at Southampton in June 2027, and his suitors are hoping he can be lured away from St Mary’s this summer.
The former England U21 international is highly-regarded overseas after enjoying a successful spell on loan at Anderlecht in the 2024-25 season.
The 23-year-old joined Southampton from Manchester City in 2022 and was part of the promotion-winning squad in 2023-24.
Samuel Edozie exit routes emerge at Southampton
Edozie enjoyed a productive loan spell at Anderlecht back in 2024-25, notching four goals and four assists for the Belgian side.
However, he found game time hard to come by at Southampton last term, as he managed just two starts across the entire Championship season.
Tonda Eckert and Co. are looking to strengthen their squad once again for another push for the Premier League, and have also been able to keep hold of star winger Leo Scienza so far.
Edozie's contract situation has alerted clubs across Europe to his availability next summer, but several are keen to try and prise him away from the South Coast in the coming weeks.
Paderborn are keen to make him part of their group that returns to the German top flight, while Copenhagen are likely to have UEFA Conference League football on offer.
Edozie may also be presented with the chance to remain in England, meaning the youngster has a wide variety of options open to him if he chooses to leave Southampton.
Ex-Southampton star joins Championship rivals
Football Insider revealed on Monday that Swansea City were in advanced talks to sign ex-Southampton striker Ross Stewart on a free transfer.
The 30-year-old departed St Mary's as a free agent earlier in the summer, and has now completed his move to join the Swans.
Stewart netted nine league goals in just 27 games for the Saints last term, but will now line up against them for a divisional rival in 2026-27.
The Scotsman will make his return to St Mary's with his new club on 8 September, and Southampton will be hoping that he doesn't come back to bite them.
