ESPN: Tottenham favourites to sign player manager has compared to Danny Rose
By John Reid
Tottenham currently lead the fight to sign Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, according to a report.
ESPN sources claim that Spurs will attempt to fend off interest in the player from both Arsenal and Manchester United and look to sign the player next summer.
The fact that Tierney signed a new six-year deal with Celtic only this week doesn’t seem to have put off any potential suitors.
Spurs had Tierney watched in the Allianz Arena a few weeks ago and he was scouted once more at Celtic Park last night.
The White Hart Lane club are looking for a natural successor to current left-back Danny Rose, who is a target for Manchester United.

Ironically, talking after the narrow 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said: “I’ve worked with who I consider to be the two best full-backs in Britain – Danny Rose at Watford and Ryan Bertrand at Chelsea”.
“Kieran [Tierney] is right up there with those boys.”
Football Insider Verdict
Kieran Tierney is a superb young player with a huge future in the game. The sky seems to be the limit for him, at only 20 years old he is already a mainstay in the current Celtic side. Even though he has only signed a new deal with Celtic this week, it could be argued that Celtic endorsed the new contract knowing that it will guarantee them a huge transfer fee when Tierney eventually leaves. If his level of performance continues that may be sooner rather than letter, and even a fee of around £30 million could prove to be a bargain for a player with so many years of football ahead of him.
