Former Aston Villa attacker Stan Collymore has congratulated Wolves on their promotion to the Premier League.

Nuno Esprito Santo’s side secured their return to the top-flight without kicking a ball on Saturday when Fulham failed to beat Brentford at Craven Cottage.

Wanderers could have sealed their own fate on Sunday with a victory over relegation-threatened Birmingham, however there will now surely be a party atmosphere at Molineux before kick-off against their West Midlands rivals.

Collymore, who grew up in nearby Cannock, took to his personal Twitter account to give his instant reaction to the news of Wolves’ promotion.

“Congratulations Wolves on a fantastic season. Fully deserved promotion back to the Premier League. Well done,” he said.

A lot of people will still be asking questions about Wolves and how they’ve managed to acquire Champions League standard players like Ruben Neves, but at the end of the day, they have worked inside the rules and deserve to go up. Many will also believe that they would have rather sealed promotion themselves, but that is just an old myth because at the end no one cares and no one will ever remember their promotion as being a ‘tainted one’ because Brentford sealed it for them. It’s going to be interesting to see what they do in the summer and how they get on against the big boys.
