Stan Collymore slams the PFA as Tottenham youngster misses out (not Alli)
By Matt Bullin
Stan Collymore has hit out at the PFA after Tottenham’s Eric Dier missed out on the shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year award.
Writing in The Mirror Collymore slammed the PFA over the inclusion of Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez over Dier – claiming they look at style over substance.
He wrote: “[Sanchez] has had a stinker in recent weeks and his inclusion on the shortlist is a ridiculous reflection of the PFA not embracing modernity.
“Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Diego Costa, David Luiz [are all more worthy of making the shortlist].”
Dier has been a key performer in Tottenham’s season so far – especially with his ability to slot in at centre back or in central midfield.

The 23-year-old England star has made 41 league and cup appearances for Spurs this season, scoring two goals and laying on two assists.
Both his goals came in the last four games for Tottenham – as he netted in the 2-0 win over Burnley and the 4-0 win over Watford.
Tottenham also beat Bournemouth 4-0 yesterday and have closed the gap on league leaders Chelsea to four points, although the Blues play later today.
Dier has been capped by England 17 times and has scored twice.
