Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce admitted that Keinan Davis and Josh Onomah both “struggled” in last night’s 2-1 win over Sunderland.
Both players started the game after impressing in the 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
However, Bruce has admitted that both youngsters found it difficult to make an impact on last night’s game.
“We’ve got two young boys up the top end of the pitch. The two of them were exceptionally good on Saturday, but we found that they struggled today,” Bruce told BBC West Midlands Sport.
“We found it difficult. We didn’t function at the top end of the pitch today, but the two lads we’ve got are young and they’ll learn from it.”
Both players have impressed for Villa this season but Bruce admitted both of them were off the pace last night.
Onomah, 20, has made 16 Championship appearances this season and scored his third goal of the campaign last night to put Villa 2-0 up.
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Davis has produced a number of impressive displays this season and recently signed a two-year-deal with the Championship club.
The young striker, who joined in 2015 from non-league Biggleswade Town has scored two goals in 15 Championship appearances this term.
Villa took the lead against Sunderland last night through Albert Adomah, who scored his second goal in three games.
Onomah put the Villans 2-0 ahead early in the second half, before Lewis Grabban pulled one back for the Black Cats.
Bruce’s side held out for the victory, which sees them move up to fourth place in the Championship table. They return to action against Ipswich at Villa Park on Saturday.
