Struijk tipped to '100%' be axed from Leeds XI after source reveal pre-Tottenham - pundit

Injury returnee Junior Firpo will return to his left-back berth from the start for Leeds United against Tottenham, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Arsenal hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old will replace in-form Pascal Struijk in the Whites’ lineup.

This site today (November 17th) revealed that Firpo has been given the all-clear to make his Leeds United comeback against Tottenham on Sunday.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider the left-back is fully recovered from injury and is in contention to make his return at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Firpo picked up a muscle injury during one of Marcelo Bielsa’s famous ‘murderball’ training sessions.

The Spaniard hasn’t taken to the field for the Whites since the 1-0 win over Watford at the beginning of October.

Firpo, 25, has made six league appearances for Leeds United this season following his summer move from Barcelona.

When asked if the defender would occupy a starting berth this weekend, Campbell told Football Insider: “Yeah, I expect him to come straight back into the starting XI, 100 per cent.

“Junior Firpo has done just okay when he’s played, to be honest.

“Pascal Struijk is one of those very versatile players who can play a lot of roles – but I do think Firpo will come back into that side.”

Struijk impressed with his adaptability yet again after slotting into left-back for the 1-1 draw against Leicester earlier this month.

The Dutchman, who has played impressively during his nine league appearances this term, has also been used in centre-back and centre-midfield roles.
