Report: Everton table bid for defender, club make response
By Alex Taylor
Swansea have turned down a £10million bid from Everton for centre-back Ashley Williams, according to a report.
Sky Sports claim on their website that Swansea have rejected the approach for their club captain, who turns 32 later this month and is contracted until 2018.
Ronald Koeman’s side have been keeping tabs on the Williams for some time after accepting they will lose John Stones to Manchester City this summer.
Wales Online claimed on Monday night that Williams was set to complete a £10million move to Goodison Park within 48 hours but that is now in doubt after reports of the rejected bid.
“Ashley Williams is an important part of our squad and club and we are not looking to sell him,” a Swansea spokesman told Sky Sports. “Therefore we have turned down the offer currently on the table.”
