The Liverpudlian made his feelings known in the aftermath of the Tyneside club’s defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Goals have been few and far between this season, as Newcastle have bagged only 22 in 24 matches, and Joselu along with Perez are the club’s leading scorers with four apiece.
Such poor form in front of goal has meant that Rafa Benitez has been forced to search for reinforcements during the January transfer window.
A £15million bid is said to have been tabled for Feyenoord forward Nicolai Jorgensen, but the Dutch club have set the Magpies a Monday deadline to submit an acceptable offer.
While Quinn himself has already put Danny Ings‘ name into the hat and feels that the Liverpool forward would be an improvement for the Magpies in attack.
With just one win in the last five Premier League matches Newcastle find themselves hanging on precariously to their survival in the top flight and are one point above the relegation zone.
And Quinn is right, strikers are needed if they are to stand any chance of being further drawn into the battle at the foot of the table.
