Tarkowski U-turn tipped amid potential 'massive bid' from West Ham - pundit

Kevin Campbell has tipped Burnley to U-turn on their James Tarkowski plan if a “massive bid” arrives from Newcastle United or West Ham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League striker is adamant a “big bid” would be too hard for the Clarets do turn down even in the midst of a relegation battle.

A Burnley source told Football Insider on Tuesday the club plan to dig their heels in and stop Tarkowski from leaving in January.

It is understood Burnley chiefs have decided it’s too risky to allow their best centre-half to leave in the mid-season.

If Sean Dyche’s side maintain their position, Tarkowski will leave on a free at the end of his contract next summer.

Newcastle and West Ham are interested in the England international.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the transfer update, Campbell said: “Look, money talks.

“A massive bid from Newcastle or West Ham changes everything.

“The key to it is, he is out of contract at the end of the season. Do they lose him for nothing or cash in? Come on.

“Burnley can play the game. But getting money in is important to Burnley. I think they’re playing the game right now.

“A big bid for Tarkowski and I think they’ll change their mind and do the business.

“I know their Premier League status means a lot but they could sign someone to replace him in January. It could work out for all parties.”

In other West Ham news, it can be revealed star is set to leave in January amid a ‘100%’ claim.
