TFG ready to spend big on new striker for Everton as Raul Jimenez deal unlikely

The Friedkin Group are planning to back Everton manager David Moyes with the addition of a new big-money striker this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

There is still uncertainty behind the scenes over the quality of both Beto and Thierno Barry, and it is understood that the Toffees’ American owners are willing to make money available to fund a new addition to the attack.

Everton have been linked with a move for Fulham frontman Raul Jimenez on a free transfer in recent days, but sources have indicated that he does not fit the ideal profile for the Merseysiders due to his age.

Instead, Everton have bigger plans to add further quality at the top of the pitch, as they look to continue their bid to improve their attack that started last summer.

Which strikers have Everton been linked with?

The striker position has continually provided issues for Everton in recent years, with Beto still struggling to find true consistency in the Premier League.

The move to sign Barry from Villarreal last summer also hasn’t provided the desired solution, and as a result, the recruitment department are set to try again this time around.

Everton have been heavily linked with a move for Chelsea frontman Liam Delap in recent months, while more recent links have emerged over Feyenoord hitman Ayase Ueda.

Delap would be an expensive acquisition with Chelsea looking to recoup their £30million outlay in order to sanction a sale, while Ueda has plenty of suitors after notching 25 goals in the Eredivisie this term.

Jimenez would provide a far more cost-effective option if he were to depart Craven Cottage at the end of his contract, but Everton are eyeing up bigger and more exciting targets.

Toffees line up fresh David Moyes contract talks

Football Insider revealed at the end of April that Everton are keen to sit down with Moyes and open talks over a new contract once again over the summer.

The 63-year-old is due to enter the final year of his deal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the club hierarchy have been hugely impressed by the work he has done since taking the reins.

They are keen to ensure that all parties remain on the same page over the club’s long-term aspirations, as the goal of securing European football is clear in 2026-27.

Moyes’ impending new deal will coincide with him having resources to use in the transfer market once again, as the owners are keen to continue to build on the progress that has been made this term.
