'That would be the perfect deal' - Exclusive: Robinson wowed by reported Tottenham pursuit

Paul Robinson urged Tottenham to try and agree on a deal with Real Madrid that would see Christian Eriksen and Gareth Bale swap places.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Spurs keeper claimed Bale would give the whole club a lift upon arriving especially if he ended up replacing Eriksen as the Danish playmaker has been “sulking.”

It was reported that Spurs could opt to offer money plus Eriksen to sign Bale from Real Madrid with the Spanish giants thought to be the Tottenham player’s ideal destination.

Robinson explained that getting someone of Bale’s quality would be a great move even if you consider his possible wage demands and worrying injury record.

When asked if Bale going to Spurs and Eriksen in the opposite direction is a good move for Jose Mourinho’s side given the Welshman’s injury record and potential hefty wage, Robinson told Football Insider: “I think they should try to get him if they can.

“I think if Eriksen is going to go to Real Madrid, I think that would be the perfect deal for Tottenham and Tottenham supporters.

“He’ll be the perfect fit for Mourinho, he’d give the whole place a lift, rather than have Eriksen who clearly doesn’t want to be there.

“He’s sulking and he’s not happy, it looks like he is going to want to leave.

“To get someone of Bale’s quality in, as part of a deal, if that’s possible then it’ll be great.”

Bale has featured 13 times for Madrid this season scoring two goals and registering two assists, while Eriksen has featured 22 times for Spurs this season, grabbing three goals and three assists.

The 30-year-old Welsh winger previously played 203 times for Spurs during his spell in North London, racking up 56 goals and 58 assists in the process.

In other Tottenham news, Alan Hutton claimed Mourinho would have hated what he has seen from one senior Spurs player in particular.
