The two Aston Villa matches that could end years of hurt for Leeds supporters
COMMENT by Amir Mir
Aston Villa may have waved goodbye to promotion this season, but Leeds are well on track to securing that all-important top six spot.
Garry Monk’s side take on Newcastle this Friday which will be followed by a home clash against Wolves three days later.
Maximum points from those encounters will go a long way to the club edging closer to a return to the Premier League.
During that time, Villa will host fourth-placed Reading before travelling to Craven Cottage to play seventh-placed Fulham.
Six points for Steve Bruce’s side in those two games will no doubt help Leeds in their promotion battle.

There is even the possibility that the Whites can clinch a play-off spot if results in the next two matches go their way.
Villa could be one team that could help them out in that department and if they do then it will no doubt end years of hurt for the Elland Road faithful.
It has been 13 years since Leeds have been craving a return to the promised land and finishing in the top six will give them the best chance of ending that barren run.
The Yorkshire outfit have produced consistent performances this term under the guidance of the highly-rated Monk and a few more steps will get fans dreaming.
In other Leeds news, a sporting great has told this Whites player that he wants to beat at Elland Road.
