Danny Mills has tipped Declan Rice to join a Premier League big hitter and claimed “there’s every chance” he could join Liverpool.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England international explained he is a big admirer of Rice and has been blown away by his development at West Ham this season.
Mills fears the Hammers won’t be able to hold on to the 20-year-old, who has played entirely in central midfield after initially making his name as a centre-back, for much longer.
Asked by Football Insider where Rice’s future lies, Mills replied: “I don’t think it’s going to be at West Ham for very long, would be the answer. When I talked about young players earlier moving too soon, he’s proven he can do it over the course of a season, maybe more than that.
“He’s now on the international scene as well. Could he fit into Manchester City? Yes. Could he fit into Manchester United? Yes. Arsenal? Yes, and
play regularly. Liverpool even, yeah, he could actually, you can see that happening.
“He’s got that quality and he’s got that experience. I think if a big money move comes in from one of the big clubs, there’s every chance that he could move.”
Rice has emerged as West Ham’s prize asset after establishing himself as a fulcrum of the team and also made his first appearance for England this year following his switch of allegiance.
Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that the club may struggle to hold on to Rice even though he signed a new contract earlier this season that runs until 2024.
