45-year-old is current PL boss: Three managers who could replace Monk in the Leeds dugout

COMMENT by Amir Mir

Time is ticking for Leeds to extend the contract of Garry Monk.

At this moment in time, his contract expires in the summer and no new deal would definitely deflate the fan base.

Here, Football Insider takes a look at three managers who could replace the highly-rated Englishmen in the dugout if he were to leave.

Alan Pardew

He was sacked by Premier League club Crystal Palace in December after a bad run of results which had his team fighting for relegation. He has vasts amounts of experience in the top tier from managing West Ham to Newcastle. Not only that, he has won promotion from the Championship before so he is aware of how tough the league is. There is no doubt that he can manage in big situations.

Aitor Karanka

His style of play is perhaps not too dissimilar to Monk, so he would like the foundations he has set up if he were to join. Karanka won promotion with Middlesbrough last season and knows how to set-up a team to earn promotion to the Premier League. There is no doubt that fans would want Monk to stay but Karanka, who is currently a free-agent, would definitely be a dark horse for the job.

Sean Dyche

A current Premier League manager and a big task to get him out of Burnley. Dyche, 45, is likely to secure Burnley’s safety in the top flight but adding him to the Leeds management squad would be a massive coup. The Yorkshire club have the fans base and club size to attract someone from the Premier League. If Monk leaves then a manager of quality and experience would be needed to fill his boots. Two promotions for Dyche added with the fact that he is on the verge of securing safety, he definitely, ticks those boxes.

In other Leeds news, fans have urged the club to sign this 28-year-old who will reportedly be a free player in the summer.
