25-year-old must be axed: Three things we learned about Leeds in win v Birmingham
COMMENT By Harvey Byrne
Football Insider analyses three talking points from Leeds’ 3-1 away victory against Birmingham in the Championship.
Result is massive
Leeds’ win on Friday evening has kept them in fourth place, but they have now moved four points clear of Reading in fifth and more importantly 11 points clear of Fulham seventh. The chasing pack now know that they have to match the Yorkshire giants’ result across the weekend and that could see many crack under the pressure. The result for the Whites at St. Andrews is massive with 11 games now left of the Championship season and it could have a huge say in the final table standings.
Pedraza needs more pitch time
Alfonso Pedraza has been used sparingly since joining in January. However, with the attacking three performing poorly at the moment there currently looks to be a space opening up for him in the team. The 20-year-old Spaniard looked much better than Stuart Dallas in his 17 minutes on the pitch and it clear that he needs more time out on the pitch. With Garry Monk watching from the stands the loanee will certainly have given him something to think about for the clash against Fulham on Tuesday.

Doukara must be axed
Souleymane Doukara was handed a start on the left against Birmingham, but the defence dealt with everything he had to offer. It is thought that the 25-year-old is keeping his place in the team due to his high workrate. However, that is not enough for a team wanting to compete at the top end of England’s second tier and is more suited to where Leeds have come from. With his contract set to run out in the summer it is generally thought that the Senegal international would be fortunate to secure a new deal, especially if Leeds do win promotion.
