Tim Sherwood has claimed that Arsenal duo Alexis Sanchez and Petr Cech “didn’t look too disappointed” at their sides 5-1 home defeat against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.
The former Tottenham boss also claimed that goalkeeper Cech, who is backup to David Ospina during Champions League games, probably thinks it’s a “good decision” that his manager leaves him out of these matches.
Arsene Wenger’s side were beaten 10-2 on aggregate as the German Champions thrashed their opponents during the last 16 stage of the European competition.
Forward Sanchez was taken off after 73 minutes with his team, who were down to ten men, losing the game 2-1 at that time.
While on the substitutes bench, pictures showed Sanchez talking to Cech with the key Arsenal duo appearing to smirk and this is what Sherwood had to say on the matter.
“They don’t look too disappointed,” Sherwood told Bein Sports as posted by a Football YouTube channel. “That looks like Petr Cech saying to him ‘It’s probably a good decision he leaves me out of these Champions League games.”
For the second match running, the Gunners were beaten by the same scoreline against Munich and in the same manner.
During the first leg when defender Laurent Koscielny went off injured in the second half, Wenger’s side capitulated and went on to concede four goals after his departure.
This time round, the France international was shown a red card during the second period for a foul in the penalty area with the home team going on to concede five goals after he left the field of play.
